Children's Privacy & Parental Consent

⚠️ This applies only when a parent or guardian chooses to create a managed profile for a child under 13. AxisAlign accounts are otherwise for adults (18+).

1. We require verifiable parental consent first

Before we collect any personal information from a child under 13, we obtain the consent of the child's parent or legal guardian, as required by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The parent creates and controls the child's profile from their own adult account.

How we verify you're the parent: we use a recognized "monetary transaction" method — a small charge (about $0.50) to your payment card, which we immediately refund. This confirms a real adult cardholder is granting consent. We never see or store your full card number; payment is handled by our processor (Stripe). We record only that consent was given, by which method, the policy/notice version, and the date.

2. What we collect from a child, and why

We practice data minimization. For a child profile we collect only:

First name — to personalize the experience.
Birth year — to confirm the profile is under 13 and apply child protections.
Your relationship to the child (for example, parent or guardian), so the profile is labeled correctly in your household.
Any wellness/organization entries the parent or child chooses to add within the app (e.g., tasks, reminders, journaling) — used only to provide the features, never for advertising.

We do not show children behavioral advertising, do not make a child's data public, and do not give child profiles access to the public Community.

3. We never condition participation on extra data

We don't require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to use a feature.

4. Your rights as a parent

At any time, from your account (Settings → Family) you can:

Review the personal information we have collected from your child.
Delete your child's profile and all associated information.
Revoke consent — this stops any further collection and use; we then delete the child's information.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell children's personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the app (e.g., database hosting, AI processing for the features the child uses) under confidentiality obligations, and only as needed to provide the service. 6. Retention

We keep a child's information only as long as needed to provide the service or until you delete the profile or revoke consent, after which we delete it within a reasonable period (except where law requires retention).
